We all know that creating a great website is about more than just putting together a bunch of great images. The site needs to work flawlessly and speak directly to your target audience.

So, sure, those images are important but so is the color that you use in the background the font that you use as well as the color of your CTA buttons

Color is extremely important here, and something that you should seriously consider early on in the process of planning your website. It might even be the most important aspect if we consider the research undertaken by Design Advisor.

They found out that people make their initial judgment of your product within 90 seconds. What’s interesting, though, is that at least 62% of their judgment is based on the color. The same is true of websites.

You can learn more about the meanings of the different colors by checking out DesignAdvisor’s handy infographic on color psychology in web design. You’ll see it right below this post, so be sure to read it through.

It makes for quite interesting reading. For example, did you know which colors are the most attractive to traditional buyers? If you want your site to do well, you need to utilize a color scheme that’s appealing to the type of customer you’re looking to attract.

You also want to use color to convey your brand values. Did you know that blue is popular in the financial service industry because it invokes trust and helps you feel more relaxed and calmer? In the foodservice industry, red is a very popular color because it conveys excitement and energy.

Think about the message that you want your site to convey. Who are you trying to attract? What are your brand values? Do you want to create a calm and relaxed atmosphere or would you rather get your visitors’ blood pumping? Choose the right color, and you’re halfway there!
